15 minute Walking Study breaks

Age 43 and I’m doing adult upgrading to try and get a bachelors, advance into a job that will hopefully help me keep it longer than 18 months. Having ADHD, PTSD and an anxiety disorder and being a full time single mom isn’t the greatest for keeping jobs and learning easily. However, if there is one thing I have learned is Time Management is critically important and while being ADHD makes me infinitely forgetful, having an app like iStudiez and hopping on the treadmill for 15 minute walking breaks after 1 hour study sessions is really helping me stay on top of it all. The freshman 15 is no more. It’s been a month and I’m down 3.5 lbs. I still have a long way to go but measuring and weighing my food, packing salads with meat, nuts and seeds and reducing my carb intake and upping my walking is helping a lot. What is also helping is I took the time to create a picture planner rather than writing it all down. What a difference a glance makes to me over writing. Weigh in tomorrow. I’m not sure if I’ll be down. It’s my time and I’m water bloated but I’ll be okay because I’m Learning and for me, just like studying, each week is a review and a chance to build on the last. I think I have finally figured it out. :)

    I have cognitive impairment (memory), so I understand your plight in that area. I have a few very large (like 2 feet by 3 feet) plastic office planners on the wall in my hallway (so that I walk by them frequently) I bought them at Staples. One is monthly and has a small box for each day, the other is a 7 day planner of the same size.

    I write in whiteboard markers (and multi-colours) my upcoming appointments in the monthly one. The daily one mimics the monthly one, in that it copies over the ones into the time slot, but also write in smaller things in the time slots in the daily planner, things that come and go. Like don't forget to take out the garbage on Thursday evening (say at 7 pm) so that it is out for Friday morning, because frankly by Friday morning I may forget to even look at the planner before it is too late for the garbage to go out.

    Great on the walking, and a choice of low carb.
