-Feb. 2nd--Will that wee Beastie see his shadow?- And up here in the North, for sure we are in for 6 more weeks of winter!

Whatta crazy day we have had so far-- Son #2, the Air Canada Pilot, called us at 6am---
" Mom", he said, " I flew over you guys at 5am"---He was heading back to Toronto from some city out west-
" I turned on the Airport lights"----he went on to say---

We do have an airport, which used to be fairly busy when the mines were open---
It has closed down now---
And from 30,000 feet, in the dark, he punched in some code and he could light up our local runway---
"Call Bert and Brenda and tell them hello" he went on to say--
They used to run our airport--

I opened our local phone book---last years---- and tried to find their number--
Of course, phone books are almost obsolete these days --most people use their cells--
I tried calling a few names, but people at these numbers all told me I had the wrong number--

Well, about 5 minutes later, our phone rang, and it was Brenda--Apparently I had called her Mother in Law, and she told her some lady was trying to find her--
It's a small town we live in--- I guess, unbeknownst to me, she recognized my voice-

"Can Matt see the lights from up at that altitude?' she asked---
She was delighted to know he still flies over ----with passengers in the airbus--a local boy ,flying over, on a landing procedure for the Toronto Airport---turning on "her lights:--at his home town--

So, when you are in the sky, en route to a destination, remember, your Pilot used to live somewhere and never forgets his roots--

--Son #2, the Air Canada Pilot, helped to raise many a puppy way up here , in the Canada's North---
Life can be good , even if we are in for 6 more weeks of winter!
