February 3, 2018 IT’S OKAY TO SHARE
What keeps people from being sincere? What things do people not want to be real about? The thing is that people don’t want to be real for many reasons. One, for sure, in vulnerability. People don’t want others to know what they are truly dealing with. They don’t want others to know they are having troubles or going through hard times. They aren’t being sincere about their feelings or what they are dealing with in life. When they put up these barriers, it is hard for anyone to help. When we attempt to hide what is going on in our lives, not only are we not being sincere, we aren’t giving others opportunities to help.
James 5:16 “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” (NLT)
1. Write about a time you shared your issues with someone.
2. List some things you may need to share right now.
3. Know others in your life want to pray for you.
4. Be open and willing to share with others and to tell God about your burdens.
Dear Lord, we know there are people who are in this world who are going through hard times. There are people who are hiding their issues so that no one knows the truth. Help these people, Lord, to share their burdens with other believers so they can be lifted up to You. We pray they will share their burdens with You so You can give them peace. We know we can’t be sincere with others when we aren’t honest with ourselves and what we are dealing with. Help us, today, we pray. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
We shouldn’t hide our problems from those who care about us. When we do, we are missing an opportunity to allow them to pray for us.
When we don’t share our burdens with others, we are disobeying God and we aren’t being real about what is going on in our lives.
Galatians 6:2 “Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.” (NLT)
When we are open with others about our situations in life, they will know they can turn to us for help when they are going through hard times.
We are to give our worries and cares to God. Then we can focus on being sincere and truly helping others.
1 Peter 5:7 “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” (NLT)
God always wants to listen to what we have to say when we are sincere and honest about our situations in life. And He, alone, can give us peace.
