Vanity sizing: Aggravating or encouraging?

Wednesday, February 07, 2018

1st I am 56 and have been overweight all of my life. As I work towards my goal of 100 pounds gone, I really don't know if 130 pounds is realistic or not. I haven't been that light since my very EARLY teen years. I went to get a new pair of jeans recently and the pair I bought (a hard find of not being torn and shredded) a size 14. WHAT? I mean, really, the last time I was in a size 14 (& a very tight fit), it was the 70's and I weighed about 155lbs. I was 30 pounds heavier this go round. 1st I was like YEAH!, then I'm was mad. Shouldn't I be encouraged? I HATE, HATE, HATE to be lied to by marketing teams. I really wish women's sizing was standard like men's clothing sizes. Then I could be comfortable buying stuff online or when I don't have time to try it on at the store. Wouldn't that be WONDERFUL? Anyhow I'm finally almost at my 2nd goal being accomplished, just the plateaus, ugh! A favorite song came on today by HOLLYN, "Alone". 'Yeah man, I got issues, I can't even lie. My only saving grace is knowing I got You inside.' Exactly! Lol, peace and hugs y'all!

Vanity sizing is so aggravating! I now weigh about what I did in H.S. (amazing!) and then I wore a size 12 and now I'm generally a size 8. And the sizes change year to year!
We just have to keep our eye focused on our goals.

Kudos on getting so far along with your goals - nice job!

Women's clothing sizing is beyond aggravating - it has reached inexcusably insane!

I'm 5'7" and maintaining around 150lbs, after a 90+ lb loss a few years ago. I currently have in my closet pants in every size from 4 to 10, tops from extra small to large --- and THEY ALL FIT THE SAME! I seriously have 2 pairs of jeans, same make and model and purchased at the same time from the same store - one is a size 8 regular and the other is a size 6 tall: but the size 8 regular is a tiny bit longer than the size 6 tall, while the size 6 fits looser in the hips and waist than the size 8 emoticon

I can't even imagine trying to purchase clothing on-line without being able to try it on, since the numbers on the tags are increasingly meaningless. I'm absolutely with you in wishing they'd get their act together and start sizing the same as men's, with actual dimensions that MEAN something.

Actually, it is a myth that losing weight is difficult as we get older..and being heavier is normal

Problem is the american standard diet....please look into a nutritrarian lifestyle....
