February 10, 2018 BE A UNIQUE MESSENGER

We can be unique and different while we are being sincere. Sincerity doesn’t mean to blend in with the crowd and agree with everyone else. We have our own voice, our own stories, and our own message to share that will point others to God. We can be genuine and real while we are different and unique in the way we speak, act, and think. Sometimes it is the differences we have that cause others to pay attention to what we say. Our uniqueness will get their attention. And while we have their attention, we can let them know we care as we share God’s word with them.

Matthew 3:4 “John’s (John the Baptist) clothes were woven from coarse camel hair, and he wore a leather belt around his waist. For food he ate locusts and wild honey.” (NLT)

Mark 1:4 “This messenger was John the Baptist. He was in the wilderness and preached that people should be baptized to show that they had repented of their sins and turned to God to be forgiven.” (NLT)

1. Write how you are different than others.
2. List the unique attributes you have.
3. Ask God to show you how to use your uniqueness to share His word.
4. Seek others to speak to and be sincere and passionate about God’s word.

Dear Lord, we pray You will help us to not hide our differences from others but to use our uniqueness to reach more people. Help us to be as John the Baptist was. He wasn’t focused on how he was different than others or how he looked. He was focused on his message to others about You. His focus was on You and he shared what You put on his heart to share. Help us to be sincere in our words to others about You and stop dwelling on our differences but use them to reach many people as John the Baptist did. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

There are many descriptions of people in the Bible who were unique yet they were sincere in their teachings about God.

There are no two people alike. We all have something different about us yet we were all made in God’s image.

We may look different than others but our uniqueness can draw attention so we can share God’s word.

When we boldly speak out for God and against sin, others will think we are different but they will also see our passion and our sincerity.

There are many images described in the Bible that are different than what we have on earth. We don’t have to understand them all but we can know they are all from God.

Genesis 1:27 “So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” (NLT)

We are created in God’s image yet we are all different. We can use our differences to share God’s word sincerely and boldly.
