Diet Changes (and the trouble that goes with it)

Friday, February 23, 2018

I am Struggling today to keep at it. I feel low energy and hungry. And its because Im craving carbs. Big fat juicy carbs I got re-accustomed to eating. Weaning my body off sugar is HARD.

It gets better day by day. And Im not INSANE, I will have a condiment that contains sugar, I will eat fruit and even use honey to sweeten my tea to get my fix. But other than that, all the garbage is off the table. I broke down and had a peppermint last night. Wooooooo

And what Im really craving right now, since its in the work fridge from the meetings yesterday, is black beans and tortillas and cheese, mmmmmm

Last summer I went on a cold turkey sugar elimination diet. Im pretty sure the first 2 weeks sucked. This time, it feels harder. Maybe its because the last time, it was desperation measures, I was tired of feeling ill and had a bad candida breakout. And I was willing to try anything and didnt know what I was doing, so I plugged away at trial and error.

This time, Im trying to get back to where I left off, since I already know what to do, and its a struggle. And im expecting to feel great right away, which is not happening. I went from sluggish from too much carbs, to sluggish from lack of carbs. Eventually I will get to an equilibrium and have the energy I want again.

But making these change, adjusting the how when and what I eat, making sure I buy healthy foods (which is the first to go, and how it all goes down hill: life gets chaotic and we just eat whatever to get by) is all taking a toll on me, an emotional eater, during my cycle starting too yay.

Im having a day. I just want to see where Im improving and its hard to see today,

I may have that burrito anyway. It may just be what I need to boost my energy.

@MANLEYSANDY Thanks for the support. Im really glad to hear your diet changes are working so well for you. I had that burrito btw and it was AMAZING! Sometimes i think its just needing fuel. Changing eating patterns sometimes causes me to just be eating enough calories because I feel 'limited' in my choices. Le sigh. However, I feel like Ive been getting better at moderation, which is a huge step.

I always remind myself how much better I used to feel, when I go off the wagon. We are human we just want what we want when we want it.

I have my moments (emotional eater here) and go off track during special occasions but since I have went, gluten, sugar and dairy "less" I can't believe how much better I feel. I just can't image going back!

    Keep pushing!!
