Forward is Forward

Thursday, March 01, 2018

"Your speed doesn't matter. Forward is forward". A quote card I received from one of my Yes.Fit races. I like this one a lot. I haven't been doing Sparkpeople for quite some time now. I've been sick, depressed, and just didn't care about anything. However, lately something has changed. I'm not sure what exactly. Perhaps I can give the credit to my decision to stop taking preventative medications to "control" my migraines. Since I've been off the drugs, my mind is clearer, I've lost 7 pounds, I have more energy, I self esteem is getting better, and my headaches have decreased. Unbelievable. I am paying more attention to my diet. I still eat the things I want when I want, but I make sure to eat more fruits and vegies. I focus on proteins and vegies/fruit first. If I'm still hungry, I will go and eat something not as healthy, especially if I have a craving for it. I know now that if I have a craving, it doesn't matter how full I am I will keep eating until it is satisfied. So, I eat healthy first, and have a small amount of what i'm craving, and that seems to be working. Actually, my unhealthy cravings seem to be lessening. Maybe because I am feeling better about myself. I weighed myself and compared. I am 4 pounds heavier than last time, but I have lost a total of 1" off my waist, 2" off my thigh, and 1" off my arm. I am extremely happy with that! This tells me the workouts are working even though I don't see it on the scale. The energy and self esteem meters are going up, while the stress meter is going down. A good sign!

I don't write this blog for anyone besides myself. If someone chooses to read it, and it motivates them, then great. It is simply an outlet for me. A reassurance that the struggle is real.

That is a great plan!! Inches are more indicative of success. Great work. My weakness are Fritos. Every so often I buy a snack size one to enjoy. But they are slowly losing the pull they used to have on me.
