If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
Many Christians describe God's love as being unconditional. They rightly say God loves us, regardless of the severity of our sin, but while God's love is certainly unfailing of our sin, but while God's love is certainly unfailing, our experience of His love is conditional on how we respond to it.
Even as sinners, God loves us more deeply than we know, but we do not accept His love because we either do not know it or do not want it. This does not make God any less loving, but until His Spirit makes known to us the measure of His love for us, we will fail to experience it.
Showing love is ultimately a choice, and personally experiencing God's love for us is contingent upon a reciprocated relationship in which we choose to love, cherish and obey God, even through the dark tunnels of life, confident in God who not on;y loves us, but is totally trustworthy, capable and in control.
If we truly love God and experience His love, how hard its it to keep His commandments. Yes, we can sin at times since we were born of Adam and in sin. God has forgiven our sin and He will never leave nor forsake us even in our sin. Praise God for His everlasting love that he bestows on us.
Father God, we are sorry for the times we have failed to love You as You deserve. Forgive us, Lord, as we strive to obey You in dependence on Your presence in us. Thank You, God. Amen.
