"Looking at small advantages prevents great affairs from being accomplished." Confucius
A guy goes to a girl’s house for the first time, and she shows him into the living room.
She excuses herself to go to the kitchen to get them some snacks and drinks.
As he’s standing there alone, he notices a cute little vase on the mantle.
He picks it up, and as he’s looking at it, she walks back in. He says, “What’s this?”
She says, “Oh, my father’s ashes are in there.”
He turns beet red in horror and goes, “Geez, oh . . . I . . .”
She says, “Yeah, he’s too lazy to go to the kitchen to get an ashtray.”
It's Brave Hearts Day! This is to honor those families that are dealing with pediatric cancer and is a reminder for the rest of us to help with donations to agencies that help these families. It's also Eeyore's Birthday! I love all the characters with Pooh but Eeyore is special. It's also Biological Clock Day, Table Top Day (a day for game strategists to create new board games), Sculpture Day (associated with World Monuments), Bob Willis Day (our Texan Sparkers may know this one from Turkey, Texas), Dance Day, Go Birding (perfect season as they're building their nests), Herb Day (great substitution to salt), Pool Opening Day (thank goodness for indoor pools so we don't have to wait), Sense of Smell Day (can you imagine not smelling the roses?), Superhero Day (pick your favorite), Take Back Day (put on be the DEA to collect unused prescription drugs), Save the Frogs Day, Veterinary Day (where would we be without these heroes for our furbabies?), Blueberry Pie Day (YES!), Cubicle Day (personally, I'm glad I'm retired), and Shrimp Scampi Day (haven't had that in ages). A couple of pairings: Workers Memorial Day with Day for Safety and Health at Work (recognizes the dangerous work conditions of the past before safety regulations were enacted), and Healing Day with Tai Chi and Qigong Day (recognizes the healing benefits of alternative methods such as yoga and tai chi).
