May 4, 2018 GOD IS OUR SECURITY

Ever felt really safe? Probably as children, even though we didn’t realize it, we felt safe. We knew our parents or teachers were close by and would help us if we had any issues. However, as we got older we realized that someone wasn’t going to always be around to help us feel safe and secure. We, as adults, have probably failed a few times, lost our way and became anxious or insecure. However, we can count on God to help us feel safe and secure. God is great because He can help us be calm in any situation.

SCRIPTURE:
Zephaniah 3:17 “For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. Write down what you are afraid of.
2. List the things you need to stop focusing on.
3. Know your focus should be on God.
4. Remember how great God is and how He wants to help you feel secure.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we are so grateful for Your greatness and that You will help us to be calm when things are happening out of our control. We are so thankful You want to calm our fears. We are so blessed You want to keep us from getting caught in worldly traps. Help us to stay focused on You and Your love today so we can be calm, feel safe and know You are with us in all things. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER:
Our God is so great that He can help us be calm when things get crazy in this world.

When we put our trust in God, He will help us feel safe and secure despite what is going on around us.

God loves us and wants us to be calm and not fear the things of the world.

When we take time to read God’s word every day, we will know how He can help us remain calm.

God is our security and wants to help us from getting off track in this world.

FOCUS:
Proverbs 3:26 “for the Lord is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap.” (NLT)
