Duvet Wrestling and Sweet Frog's

Friday, May 04, 2018

So I'm at my daughter's house for a week while she's recovering from surgery. To simplify her life I've taken over running the house. She had lived in Germany for some years and had adopted the European custom of using duvets for bedding. Enter Mother who has NOT lived in Europe, just knows what a duvet is.....

My unexpected new fitness plan is wrestling the duvet guts inside the cover and getting them to lie evenly. If someone had been filming me for America's Funniest Video I'd be a top contender. Said duvet was a king size cover with huge guts to stuff inside. With the cover on the floor, I tried crawling inside dragging guts with me. Got 'em in then tried to unlump them. No dice. By then I was sweating profusely. I WILL NOT let a duvet be my victor!! Tried several methods to no avail except more sweating and rather explicit thought bubbles.

Finally put the whole shebang on the bed and carefully inched the guts inside, straightening out as I went. SUCCESS!!! Too bad I didn't have my Fitbit on to measure all this action.

Took the granddaughters shopping today at an outlet mall. After treating them to McDonald's lunch ( I didn't eat, had lunch before) we proceeded to mall crawl for a few hours with some success. Then one granddaughter "suggested" several times Sweet Frog's on the way out. (hint, hint). It's a frozen yogurt shop in case you don't know, which I didn't. Turns out this wonderful place had no sugar added, non-fat cheesecake yogurt at 20 calories an ounce.

Heavenly!!!! Too bad we don't have any of those in Colorado that I know of, they would have a periodic customer. What a treat!!!!

Thank you, granddaughter, for the "suggestion." Next time it'll be a contest to see if granddaughter or grandma suggest it first.

Great grandma story to be cherished by the grandchildren. We have a Green Frog's frozen yogurt shop here on the east coast. Wonder if they are own by the same company.

LOL! Loved your description of filling the duvet! I worked for a retailer that sold bedding and we used to have to change out 11 beds every week or two. Here's the secret: turn the duvet inside out and lay it flat on the bed with the opening at the bottom, lay the comforter directly on top, reach into the opening and grab top left corner with your left hand and top right corner with your right hand, now pull the comforter and duvet right side out through that opening, give it a good shake and button up...your done :-) I've seen UTube videos on other ways to do it too.

Hope your daughter is recovering nicely from the surgery.

I have yet to meet a duvet cover but I think I shall stay away from the possible encounter. It sounds like you are doing well helping out and may need special rewards for taking on the duvet!
