I didn't think the day could feel any longer or more tiring than the previous one, but I was mistaken. I am just exhausted.

I left the house about 9:15 for my doctor appointment at 10. Stress level was evident (blood pressure was 180/102 so I will monitor daily and report back) and the tears flowed easily. The doc did write me out a prescription for a 7-day vacation alone and she expects me to take at least 5 of those days within the next month or two. Had a lab draw to check all my levels as well. Afterwards I still had about an hour to kill before going to the family session so I went to the grocery store and then to Wendy's for lunch.

The family session went well and the current plan is to meet again Friday morning at 11 with the goal of having Maegann released. They want her to stay so they can change her antidepressant and monitor for a couple of days and give her time to learn some coping skills. We went back tonight for visitation and after talking with her again it does sound like the usual "blocked it out" coping "skill" as she doesn't remember hurting herself and wasn't sure how she got to the facility. I will call the doctor and social worker tomorrow and let them know that information as she definitely needs to learn to stop that one.

I finally got home about 2:30 and had 3 clients I had to do a little bit of edits for so I got those done and then it was time for supper and our trip back to see Maegann. Isaac went off with the pastor's wife about 5:30 and they went to Applebee's and then to a new ice cream shop in town before hanging out at their house until we came for him. Such a blessing!

Other happenings today was the hydro-seeding of the lawn. We should see green in about a week! SO thankful.

Tomorrow I will tackle the laundry, school with Isaac, drop Isaac off at church for Patrick time and drop a letter off at the school office for Michael (boyfriend). I am hoping to do zero paid work, but we'll see what the day brings.

Wow! Do you ever have a plateful of stress, girl! Sounds like all the right things are in place. Does she still see the therapist she did for the brain trauma recovery? He seemed particularly good about getting through to her.

I've been trying to recover from this diverticulitis and missed some things. Did Maegann actually cut herself or did she threaten? Cutting/self-harm is not easy to get them out of as it takes time and persistence in therapy. You've got a long road ahead but it seems you've uncovered it early which makes the therapy work go better and faster.

Elevated BP is not unexpected. You've had tremendous stress. What's important to remember is that you're no good to anyone else, nor Maegann if you don't take care of yourself. You DO need some time away from all of the stuff in your life as it will help to recharge your batteries to move on ahead. It's one of the hardest things to do while going through what you are at the moment. You will need to be firm with yourself, Janet, to get you to do what was prescribed. You'll want to have excuses and what if's and how can I's . Trust me on this....JUST DO IT! Speak with her therapist and get advice on the timing. While Maegann is in hospital or under someone else's supervision will give you more peace. The time off and away will help to restore you.

My heart is full of care and concern for you and the family. Know I'll be praying like crazy for you all.

I'm glad that your doctor told you to take a vacation by yourself. You deserve it. I'm glad that all the meetings went well. I am still praying for your family. Sorry that Maegann is using the "blocking" coping skill again. I was hoping that she had finally moved past that. emoticon

Hope your Wednesday is less stressful and exhausting....your BP def indicates a need for the “me time” that your doc recommended!
