Summer 5% Challenge Fun

For the past year and a half I have participated in the most fun, interesting and friendly competition on this site. I am talking about the 5% Challenges here on Sparkpeople. If you are looking for a way to lose weight, make some good friends, virtually travel all over the world the 5% Challenges are for you. We try to lose 5% of our weight in 8 weeks. We shoot for healthy weight loss and there are approximately 14 teams involved. Each team is comprised of approximately 40 challengers and we race across the world, racking up air miles - exercise points - and completing tasks, known as Living The Good Life challenge tasks. Air miles - as we fly from destination to destination weekly - are exercise points. You receive one exercise point for every minute that you exercise a day. The Living The Good Life tasks are undertakings which deal with good habits we'd like to develop and reinforce. We might try to drink 8 glasses of water a day, post to your nutrition tracker daily, we may declutter our homes and our lives, these are examples of some of the functions that earn each challenger a set number of points a day upon completion. Each member of the Team Posts their all their points in each category to the team thread. You are earning points for yourself and your team! Each team competes against the others. It is so much fun to belong to a team and there are many to choose from. There are teams which are about things like loving to cook - Champions In The Kitchen - or walking, running and jogging - Walkers, Runners, Joggers and Gadgeters - Each team has a name and you pick the team you would like to become a member of. We have whimsical team names like the Spirited Under Dogs, Shooting Stars, Teddy Bears and my TERRIFIC team ROWDY REBELS !! All team competition is friendly and fun !! It's great to be a part of something bigger than yourself, where you can shine and become a star as you lose your 5%. You glean great tips and information from your team mates and other team members. There is a Challenge Community where you can socialize, get to know and interact with other team's members. You can ask questions, get advice, share your experiences and successes !! You obtain support and encouragement from your team members and those of the Community, all in an atmosphere of structured fun and enjoyment. We are a great way to commit to weight loss, exercise and camaraderie. The Summer 5% Challenge will begin soon. Eight weeks of challenging yourself to be your best and cheer your team on to victory !! The personal satisfaction of giving your all is, bar none, the best feeling in the world. You will then be a valued member of the Challenge. On the Summer Challenge page you scroll down to the PICK A TEAM FORUM. All the teams are listed in that forum and you just pick the one you like the best and sign up on their team thread.
