June 18, 2018 DECIDE TO OBEY
There are some in this world who are confused about the meaning of the word “obedience.” Many believe if we obey someone, we are saying we are weak and need guidance. Some believe living according to the law means we can’t think for ourselves. Others attempt to change the law in order to take a stand for a cause they believe is right (in their opinion). However, God’s law should be our guideline. His law is always right. Living in obedience to God means we are choosing Him over this world. Obeying God is not a sign of weakness but a sign of discipline and love for Him. Would we rather obey God and have a right life or keep on sinning in disobedience and be a slave to this world?
Romans 6:16 “Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.” (NLT)
1. Write how you obey God’s word.
2. List the things God has taught you.
3. Know obeying God will always be right.
4. Turn from the world and decide to obey God in all things.
Dear Lord, we are so grateful for Your word and Your will. Help us to remember to choose obedience to You rather than conforming to this world. There is so much evil in this world that will lead us down wrong paths. Remind us Your will is a better choice for us and others. When we are careful to obey You, we will be blessed and we will have opportunities to share Your word with others and give You the glory. What a great life that will be! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
When we make the choice to conform to the things of the world, we become slaves to this world.
Living for God means to choose to obey Him. It is possible when we submit our lives to Him.
Obeying God is not a sign of weakness but a sign of discipline and love for Him. Would we rather obey God and have a right life or keep on sinning in disobedience and be a slave to this world?
When we are careful to obey God’s word, we will find many blessings He has planned for us.
God is so good that He loves us enough to give us rules to live by so we will have a prosperous life.
2 Chronicles 27:6 “King Jotham became powerful because he was careful to live in obedience to the Lord his God.” (NLT)
