June 19, 2018 DECISIONS OUT OF GUILT

So many people suffer from guilt. Guilt is not something we think about as a health issue but many are in bad health due to guilt. Those who are dealing with guilt are less confident, have bad relationships and are stuck in the past. Focusing on what we have done wrong or think we have done wrong keeps our focus off of God. We can even make wrong decisions when our hearts are full of guilt. However, we can get past that guilt by confessing our sins to God and admitting our mistakes. He will forgive us and cleanse of our sin so we can live a better life and make better decisions according to His will.

SCRIPTURE:
Romans 14:22 “You may believe there’s nothing wrong with what you are doing, but keep it between yourself and God. Blessed are those who don’t feel guilty for doing something they have decided is right.” (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. Write about any guilt you have.
2. List the sin or sins associated with that guilt.
3. Go to God and confess those sins.
4. Seek His forgiveness so you can make better decisions and do His will.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we know we sometimes harbor guilt in our hearts. We have done things we are not proud of. And, because we are sinners, we continue to do wrong things. Help us to see what is wrong in our lives and confess our sins to You. We want to be free from the sin and guilt that keeps us from worshiping and serving You. Help us to make the right decisions so guilt doesn’t lead us to continue to do wrong. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER:
If we confess our sin, God can remove our guilt so we can live the life He has called us to live.

If we want to prosper, we need to turn from our sin and seek God’s forgiveness for it.

Proverbs 28:13 “People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.” (NLT)

Sometimes when we are riddled with guilt, we can make bad decisions trying to fix things ourselves rather than allowing God to take control.

God is greater than our feelings so we need Him to help us when we feel guilty.

FOCUS:
1 John 3:20 “Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything.” (NLT)
