Thought and Prayer for Friday, June 22, 2018

Friday, June 22, 2018

If we have ever felt bored with life, we may have experienced dissatisfaction. When we are bored, discouraged, frustrated or disappointed, we aren’t satisfied. There are few things in this world and few people who can truly give us satisfaction. There will always be people who let us down and things that will expire or break. Many times we make decisions based on whether or not we are satisfied. When we do this, we make poor decisions. If we want to be satisfied, our focus needs to be on God and not man.

Proverbs 27:20 “Just as Death and Destruction are never satisfied, so human desire is never satisfied.” (NLT)

1. Write about a time you weren’t satisfied.
2. List the reasons and what you did.
3. Know there will never be satisfaction from this world.
4. Remember only a living a life for God will bring true satisfaction.

Dear Lord, we pray You will remind us throughout the day that this world will not satisfy us. When we look to the world to help us, we will be disappointed. Also, we want to remember we can’t rely on others to satisfy us. They are human and will disappoint us. Help us to stop looking to the world and to people for satisfaction. We want to follow and obey You. You are all we need to be fully and completely satisfied because You can give us what no one else can. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God can give us what no one else can. He is all we need to be truly satisfied.

The things of this world will always leave us wanting more. That is why our focus should be on God.

Proverbs 30:15b-16 “There are three things that are never satisfied—no, four that never say, ‘Enough!’: the grave, the barren womb, the thirsty desert, the blazing fire.” (NLT)

People don’t intentionally disappoint us but their expectations are not always ours and that is what keeps us from being satisfied. And that is why we need God. He knows our needs.

Rather that continually looking for more from this world, let’s look for more from God’s word. He will give us all we need.

Ecclesiastes 1:8 “Everything is wearisome beyond description. No matter how much we see, we are never satisfied. No matter how much we hear, we are not content.”(NLT)
