June 25, 2018 GIVE FREELY

Many of us feel as if we live paycheck to paycheck. We have just enough to get by with what we need and no more that we can give to others. However, God has a different plan for us. He wants us first to remember all we have is from Him. It is His. It is not ours. And, second, He calls us to give what we have to Him and to others in need. When we don’t give, we will continue to have nothing. But when we do give freely the first and best we have back to God, we will have all we need. He will make sure of it.

SCRIPTURE:
Psalm 112:1b, 9 “How joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight in obeying his commands…They share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever. They will have influence and honor.” (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. Write ways you give to the Lord.
2. List the ways you give to others.
3. Know God wants you to give freely.
4. Seek His word and live to obey His will.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, thank You for Your reminder that we are to give freely to You and others. Show us where we are not giving. We know You call us to give our firsts to You so You can bless it and us. We want to be obedient to You and trust in You. Starting today, we will give our firsts to You. We will seek opportunities to give freely to those in need. And we will trust in You to provide us with our own needs. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER:
When we choose to give freely to others, God will ensure we have all we need.

Luke 6:38 “Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.” (NLT)

When we choose to give freely to others, God will bless us and those who receive our gifts.

2 Corinthians 9:7 “You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. ‘For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.’” (NLT)

If we want to prosper according to God’s will, we are to give freely and generously.

FOCUS:
Proverbs 11:24-25 “Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” (NLT)
