I recently read The Diabetes Code by Jason Fung and learned a lot about how to reverse Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) naturally. Dr. Fung gives two ways: Intermittent Fasting and calorie restriction of carbohydrates and no sugar.
I have been combining these two methods and inadvertently developed a third method: two to three days a week calorie restriction of carbohydrates and no sugar. I start right after dinner on day 1 with no alcohol. Usually, I have a glass of wine after dinner each night. That is gone. I eat and drink nothing in the evening except for water and herbal teas. On day two, I delay eating breakfast by a few hours, only having the herbal tea, or maybe a cup of black coffee. I avoid milk products and eat only until not hungry. My snacks include nuts, seeds, and a hard-boiled egg if I get hungry.
This simple plan is what my IF group on SparkPeople .com uses. I think that it’s working for all of us. I know that it is working to bring down my blood sugar levels. My A1C and cholesterol levels will be checked again in September. I am looking forward to seeing the results. I plan to continue on my IF plan until then. I am a creature of habit, but my body seems to thrive with these weekly changes.
