June 29, 2018 RIGHT LIVING

If we listen to the counsel of others too much, we will find out how they believe we should live. Everyone of this world seems to have their own definition of right living. Most people believe what they are doing is right and they justify it with excuses that help them cope with what they do. However, there is only one right way of living. And that is where we keep our eyes on God all the time. Because when we take our eyes off God, we stray. Just like when we are driving and we take our eyes off the road for a second, we swerve a little. Or when we stop looking at the ball when we are at bat, we may get hit.

When we keep our eyes on God and go to Him before taking any action, saying any words or start having negative thoughts, He will help us to get back on track according to His will so we will live right. He can help us live a right life because only He knows what is truly right. His word can guide us through each day.

SCRIPTURE:
James 4:14-15 “How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. What you ought to say is, ‘If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.’” (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. Write about how you make decisions.
2. List the people who help you.
3. Know God wants to help you do what is right.
4. Choose to go to Him for any help in all things.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we pray You will help us to live right according to Your will. We know You want us to obey You and to follow the instructions in Your word. Help us to stop listening others or follow our own desires so we can start living to obey only You. Only You can give us the right direction in every area of our lives. We want to come to You before we speak, before we act and before we think so we will be doing Your will and not our own. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER:
If we do wrong, we should be disciplined. It isn’t enjoyable but it trains us to do what is right.

Hebrews 12:11 “No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.” (NLT)

When we keep our eyes on God and go to Him before taking any action, saying any words or start having negative thoughts, He will help us to get back on track according to His will so we will live right.

If we want to know how to live right, we need God’s word in our lives.

Right living, according to God’s will, is better than any riches from this world.

FOCUS:
Proverbs 11:4 “Riches won’t help on the day of judgment, but right living can save you from death.” (NLT)
