Eat Slower!

I am a busy person, a multitasker and often in a rush. I think that this may be one reason why I gained weight in the first place. I needed to slow down and enjoy my food without the tv going. No computer, just enjoy the food in the company of my husband or whoever is there.

Chewing my food more can help with heartburn and indigestion. I need to let my stomach have time to tell my brain when I'm full. When I slow down, I automatically eat less because I feel full after fewer bites. The decrease in calories in is a good thing. Studies have shown that if I eat slower, I'll feel full longer. The more I chew my food, the easier digestion can happen because I'll absorb nutrients better and I'll feel calmer.

I also drink a glass of water before the meal. It has no calories, and fills my stomach, helping me feel full sooner.
