I have celiac disease. I am scrupulously careful about gluten free eating especially while at home. Getting glutened is, thankfully, a fairly rare occurrence. That said, I have been safely eating Quorn products for the better part of the 5 years I have been GF. Until Sunday. Apparently there is Barley extract in their grounds now. Perhaps it has always been there and I have just been lucky/become more sensitive but I definately react to it now. This is hella frustrating. A gluten reaction for me results in days in bed. I am missing half a week of work this week and I darn well didn't have that in my plans. Plus I am miserable. Nothing to do but ride it out and be more diligent about ALWAYS reading the labels, even on products I have previously eaten safely. Thankfully I had my Spark People tracker to help me hone in on what the culprit was instead of wondering and possibly being exposed again before figuring it out, if in fact I ever did.
