"A river cuts through rock, not because of it power, but because of its persistence." Jim Watkins
"Bought a new refrigerator with a water dispenser in the door. Now I just need to hook it up to my box of wine."
A man was brought to Mercy Hospital and taken in for coronary surgery. The operation went well and, as the groggy man regained consciousness, he was reassured by a Sister of Mercy, who was waiting by his bed.
“Mr. Smith, you’re going to be just fine,” said the nun, gently patting his hand. “We do need to know, however, how you intend to pay for your stay here. Are you covered by insurance?”
“No, I’m not,” the man whispered hoarsely.
“Can you pay in cash?” persisted the nun.
“I’m afraid I cannot, Sister.”
“Well, do you have any close relatives?” the nun essayed.
“Just my sister in New Mexico,” he volunteered. “But she’s a humble spinster nun.”
“Oh, I must correct you, Mr. Smith. Nuns are not ‘spinsters.’ They are married to God.”
“Wonderful,” said Smith. “In that case, please send the bill to my brother-in-law.”
It's Innergize Day! The day after the autumnal equinox, it's a day to relax and rejuvenated yourself. It's Daughters' Day in India. Originated out of the gender imbalance due to the preference for the male child, a father started this day to show the importance of girls and the need to respect them. It's also Checkers Day but not for the game. This day is for the cocker spaniel, Checkers, Nixon received as a gift and had mentioned in a speech in 1952, long before he was President. A branch of Checkers Day is Dogs in Politics which is for all the Presidents' dogs through the years. It's also Celebrate Bisexuality Day (a day to celebrate bisexuality, its history, community and culture), Great American Pot Pie Day (similar to a meat pie, the version we know and grew up with is an American version), Snack Stick Day (this day refers to dried meat snack sticks which are usually beef, pork, or game; watch out for that hit in calories and sodium), Teal Talk Day (a day to raise awareness about ovarian cancer; encourages us to wear teal as a symbol of this day to educate about early detection), Restless Leg Awareness Day (raises awareness of the medical condition of the legs moving on their own when at rest), and Supernatural Day (celebrates the TV series "Supernatural" and the Winchesters).
