Taking a nap on the side of the road...

Monday, October 01, 2018

When our kids were little and we would see an animal laying on the side of the road, we said that they were taking a nap on the side of the road. I realized today that is what I've been doing. I've frequently described life as a journey. I discovered that I wasn't making the progress that I wanted or even what I thought I was making. I was tired of the fight, and especially if I wasn't accomplishing anything. I stopped. Basically, I stopped and laid down alongside of the road and went to sleep. I'm still not sure about getting up to try again but at least now I recognize what is happening. Blessings on the journey!

Yes, I have lost and gained weight so many times, but not for the right reasons. I was trying to fit in a world I didn't feel like I belonged to. Now I just look at the world with a smaller focus, my day. Each day I think about what will bring me joy, how to show myself the love I seeked and never found from others. The shift is within, and no one can see it. But it has helped me to see my needs so much better. Eyes wide open, I know what I like and what I don't, and each new habit, choice, and smile gets me up off the pavement of life, so I can travel to new adventures that I want for myself. Awake and Living for Me again. We can do this! emoticon I am cheering you on!

Self awareness is a great start.

Maybe don't think of what you need to do as a fight. You deserve to be active and to eat healthy food to take care of yourself. You deserve to be nurtured and who better than you to do that!

Small, healthy changes each day. You deserve this!

Recognizing the issue is the first step. The second step is doing something about it.
    You can do it!!

I understand as often feel discouraged by slow progress but then I remind myself that I am making some small bit of progress. Often it seems like this time (like most I have lost and regained many times) it just isn't going as good as before. Maybe that isn't a bad thing. Work a little and "nap" a little and keep going. The keep going is the critical part. So rest and nap if you need to but don't quit. We can win if we just never quit. Last week I gained a pound but this week plan to lose 2. Back a step or two but forward 2 or 3. Blessings.

Since you know what is going on, you can start making changes. You can get up and you can try again. I know you can.
