Self-Limiting Beliefs

This is a Premium Coach assignment. This is one I have done before, I think the same questions come up for us to see how we have improved or have made progress along the weight loss journey.

This question is regarding the self-limiting belief of an "all or nothing attitude" when it comes to food or fitness and whether the choice made at the time was rational or helpful. When was the last time I fell victim to this attitude?

I last fell victim to this belief actually a couple of weeks ago. I came down sick with a very nasty sinus infection. I felt horrible, looked even worse. I have became very active which has been great for the pain of arthritis and neuropathy. If I even go a day without I get very painful and stiff. So I exercised despite being sick and not even reduce the amount of time I exercised.

This was not a rational or a helpful decision, it was hurtful as it made me feel even worse! I hate being down and out. I have to learn to accept that I need to rest at least in the beginning of an illness to allow myself to rest. Or maybe I can try gentle exercise in 10 minute spurts.



I still have a lot to learn with the "all or nothing" attitude in all areas in my life. Knowing that I do have this self-limiting belief is a good first step on overcoming it!
