Walking My Path

I have been over weight since my early twenties. In varying degrees, of course. I tried various diet plans with temporary success. I did WW back when it was nicknamed the "Tuna Brigade"...LOL . My Doctor, put me on his diet plan, which worked, but was not sustainable, as it was mainly eggs and cottage cheese, which I hated at the time. I did lose weight, but soon put it back on. Upside was that I do like cottage cheese now.
Fast forward 30 years of working, raising a family, yoyo dieting, and here I am, a "senior" with a weigh issue. I attended a weekly group diet group, with a great bunch of people. With their support and weekly weigh-ins they helped me get from 231 lbs to 213lbs. Here I plateaued and was stuck for over a year.
Months of eating what I liked and going back to old, bad habits. Being less active than I was, eating out frequently. There I was still weighing the same.
Coming back from a week trip to Virginia Beach to visit my grand-babies, where I ate very healthy. Was active....chasing an almost 2 year old, lets weigh-in and see how things are weight wise. Yeah......210 lbs...I had vaulted the brick wall without knowing it !
What to do with this good news? Take this gift and run with it. Did online searches for diet / life style options. Many programs were costly, some reviews revealed some scam/ financial problems with billing/ refunds etc. Fast forward a few days and remembering the support and encouragement before at Spark People ....here I am.
The support is as positive as it ever was and I have found many new motivational features that I think are great. Want to Thank Sparkguy and the Team leaders for a great program.
So here I am at Day 4 feeling "Happy & Motivated" to do it this time. Crossed fingers, I know it is now a lifetime commitment to good health and hopefully a long life.
My starting weight was the last time i weighed in 206.6. The 210 listed was about a week prior to starting and in fall clothes. Jeans etc. So I have 5 days to my weigh in. Wish me luck on this slow journey climbing to the pinnacle of a healthy weight and lifestyle !
