Keeping it going

Thursday, October 25, 2018

So When I weighed last Monday I had lost 13.5lbs. Annoyingly 0.5lbs off a full stone emoticon Since then I have been permanently hungry and tried a few different things to help. But I am still finding that I have eaten most of my calories by early afternoon. I am not sure if I am coming down with a sore throat (which often causes a surge in my appetite on the days leading up to it) or if my body just needs time to catch up with itself. My plan atm is to keep going as I am doing but trying to spread my calories out a bit more. If after another week I am still struggling I am thinking about a temporary maintenance phase until I feel ready to lose a bit more. My BMI is at a healthy 23.6 so I am happy to take the long road if that's what it takes to get there.
Longer term I intend on tracking my calories for quite a while once I have reached my goal weight, possibly a year. If I feel I can navigate food choices without tracking or gaining weight back I will. If I don't feel that will work for me then I will be looking at tracking more permanently. In the long term I need to work on getting my diet healthier. At the moment I am relying a bit too much on convenience, a factor that is probably affecting my hunger. I am very busy and hardly seem to have any regular time for meal prep. I am hoping that things will start to get easier over the next few months but it may take a year or so, or until my youngest starts school. My motto right now is "what I can when I can" What I am doing now is what I can manage to do and keep doing, so for now that is fine as long as I see things as a work in progress.
I also don't seem to be clear with myself on my goal weight, at the moment I am set to 133lbs but I know I "want" to lose more than that but I am not sure how realistic a lower weight would be. I have seen my body fat percentage drop by 2.5% since i started tracking and going to the gym early September. My goal weight beyond 133lbs is based on past weights when I didn't have as much muscle. I don't really want to lose too much muscle so I may find that I need to let my goals unfold as I go along. I am excited to see bodyfat percentage under 25. It's currently at 27.5%. That means that the 133lbs may be appropriate to get me a good and leaner than 25% bodyfat level. So at the moment my aim is 133lbs and around 20% fat but with some flexibility on numbers. Difficult when i love numbers so much!
I am looking forward to seeing what progress I have made when i weigh tomorrow, happy sparking :-)
