A town day...lots of stuff to tend too and it took hours to get it all wrapped up.
Barely home in time to get chores done before dark ,,leaves me feeling rushed and like my
day was none productive. But town stuff has to be done..so tis.
Tomorrow is supposed to be a warm day before another cold front rolls in..so I am getting
ready to do some changes to my lil farm. We had been thinking to add on to the feed room, it is sort of crowded with too many barrels and not enough room for all the Stuff . Then as ideas do..I woke thinking..I have a big chicken house but few chickens. A tiny feed room but lots of feed and hay to store. So why not put chickens in smaller area , they can stay warmer being sort of forced to roost in a group and the smaller area does stay warmer and dry. Move the feed to the larger area where the hay can be stored as well! Not exactly a duh moment but definately a...why did I not think of that before.! I have always had a larger flock and marketed the eggs. Now I have what might be called a back yard flock and am happy with it.
Get enough eggs for me, the kids and a few neighbors. So tis good!
Not sure I can get that big change done tomorrow as there is a door opening to make and then move the door, small chicken sized entry door..but that can take hours to create. Easier to frame in a big door than a tiny one, weird as that sounds. It would be nice to move the birds before the cold though..ahh we will see. I tend to think that ..ah I can get it done..and then am very irked at me when it doesn't go as I think it should. The ole can't do what I used to do in the time I used to do it syndrome!
But if you try to do in a rush...it usually doesn't work out..so need to rein me in and apply some patience to my plan I guess!
For now I have dedicated evenings to the afghan that I have been working on. Got to get that beast done! I will never make that pattern again..although it looks to be a nice one..takes too long to make for me. I like to have bulky yarns and patterns that make up rapidly, this one has tiny little cables every few stitches...grrrrrrrrrr...suppo
sed to be created with love for loved ones..it is stretching my lil self to my patience limit..so yep time to apply and get done!
I am hoping for snow..if it is going to be dark and cold..then couldn't it please snow!!
Here's to a good week..winding up one challenge and on break from another. So a few extra moments to focus..on the afghan..heee hee
Nite ya'al..and to those that do....happy knitting!!

Well I must say your feed room/chicken coop swap sounds like a stroke of genius, Katie. Better for both you and the chicks!

And.....there are a lot of us who can't get as much done as quickly as they once would! Such is life.

I finished crocheting the lapghan I was working on last night and said the same thing - so glad to be done with it. Although I love the finished piece. Can't wait to send it to my BIL for Christmas and am hoping he likes it as much as I do.

Good luck with getting everything moved around and resettled in for winter.

I love cables! Haven't knitted in years - not since the invention of the home computer.

    Stay warm!

I am one of those people who try to fit 90 hours work into 40 hours then I wonder why I did not get it all done ! Your idea sounds good Katie.

I tend to think I can do more in the allotted time than I really can! Somehow, tiny little things take way more time than I think they should. Good luck getting that swap done. I'm sure the chickens will be happy to be warmer, although they will probably be confused about the change of address.

Great idea on moving the chickens and feed, sounds like it will be much more productive that way. A small lamp would heat up a small area a lot better than a big area too. Putting your space to good use. Enjoy the knitting! Never learned that one. I have a cross stitch that I need to finish up, but my eyes don't like it much anymore. Hate it when body parts start to get old.
