Nola and The Panda Hat
Saturday, December 01, 2018
Our Grand-daughters are spending the weekend with us. Nola had a Birthday Party to attend this morning. Before she left with my DH, I checked her over to make sure she had everything that she needed. Then I noticed that she was wearing the Panda Hat that was made for her last Christmas. My BIL is a volunteer at a prison about 85 miles from us. One of the inmates crochets and is extremely good at it. He is a huge, burly guy with tatoos and piercings who looks like he could bite a steel bar in half, but he is a gentle giant. When my BIL saw the Panda hat he had made for someone else, he asked if he would mind making one for Nola. He bought the yarn for him and a couple of weeks later the hat was finished. When I commented on it this morning, Nola reminded me of where it came from (which I already knew, but I think that she thinks my mind is slipping..............she could be right.)
Anyway, the party was held at one of Nola's classmate's home which is like a mansion. The mom and dad are both Chiropractors and have a very successful practice. When my husband picked Nola up, the Mom was admiring Nola's hat and Nola turned to her and said, " Thank you...............it was made for me by a convict who is in prison and knows my Uncle." My husband said that her face took on a "Whiter Shade Of Pale", so he quickly told her the story. We can always count on Nola to tell a story without any of the frills............and lots of shock value.
