"When you start seeing your worth, you'll find it harder to stay around people who don't."

A travel agent looked up from his desk to see an older lady and an older gentleman peering in the shop window at the posters showing the glamorous destinations around the world.

The agent had had a good week and the dejected couple looking in the window gave him a rare feeling of generosity.

He called them into his shop and said, “I know that on your pension you could never hope to have a holiday, so I am sending you off to a fabulous resort at my expense, and I won’t take no for an answer.”

He took them inside and asked his secretary to write two flight tickets and book a room in a five-star hotel.

They, as can be expected, gladly accepted, and were on their way.

“The flight was exciting and the room was lovely,” she said. “I’ve come to thank you. But, one thing puzzled me.

Who was that old guy I had to share the room with?”

It's Falling Needles Family Fest Day! Tongue-in-cheek celebration of watching the needles fall from your now-dried Christmas tree. Gather the family around and reminisce the beauty that tree brought into your home. It's No Interruptions Day! Today acknowledges you are more productive when you can focus on the job at hand, so shut the door, turn off the phone, and ignore the social media. It's Bicarbonate of Soda Day (is this in preparation of Tuesday morning?; baking soda is used in baking as a leavening agent but also in cleaning solutions, as a disinfectant, soothes acid indigestion and skin irritations), Bacon Day (this day is tied in with the episode of the Simpson's when Homer asks, "Is it Bacon Day?"; yes, it is, so indulge in a piece), Festival of Enormous Changes at the Last Minute (this celebration acknowledges that a lot of our resolutions are made at the last minute, especially after some bubbly and over-eating; today is to get a head start and have your resolutions nailed down before the festivities; because we Sparkers are always improving, we've already had ours written down for a while--right?).
