Progress report

Thursday, January 03, 2019

My new scale arrived today and, blow me down with a feather, my weight has gone up 2 lb. As my old analogue scale was so unsteady and I had to estimate within a range, it should not have surprised me, but after 2 weeks I had my original starting weight of 260 set in my memory bank, and to have to reset to a higher figure in my head feels like a backwards step. This is all a bit tongue in cheek of course, it is what it is and I'm quite blaz─ô about it. I think it is day 17 today although there seems to be a difference of a day with the 21 day Challenge. However all is going to plan so far. The food tracking has become easier now that the majority of foods that I eat regularly are in my favourites (Favorites). When I originally registered I chose the metric scale for my measurements but then found somewhere that the tracker seemed to only offer the imperial option, so I changed over. Hence my measurements are going to show that I have shrunk physically while ballooning in weight suddenly haha. Hope it overloads the computer! I am bombarded with SparkPeople messages on Facebook, but they are proving a good source of information and motivation so not hard to endure. There are some fantastic stories of Sparklers' journeys and how diverse they all are - wow! Here we are starting our own journey which may eventually prove inspiration for another group of newbies down the track. I wish us all a succesful and rewarding journey.

Don't compare old with new because as you will have noticed there can be a big difference between scales. Also, our weights tend to change considerably during the day. When I was at my heaviest it could fluctuate 2-3kg in that one day. Altho' I weigh myself on my home scales for a very rough guide, I only take notice of the weights at my Dr's. I always weigh myself at the same time of day - before lunch and immediately after the loo, and in the same weight clothes. I discovered that some clothes appear the same weight but could be 2-300g difference.

emoticon That number on the scale really has nothing to do with who you are! Glad you are getting involved in the process!
