New to SparkPeople. New to blogging.
Hope to use this page to support others and encourage myself to stick with it.

Here's a little bit about my story.

Last year, 2018, was a year of re-emergence for me. Finally, I began to see my way to being happier and wanting to be healthier.

I won't bore you with all the sad details but beginning in 2009, with a job loss, I've dealt with a 25 year marriage that disintegrated... divorce... bankruptcy... kids on the wrong track... more job loss...emptying my 401(k)... But I persevered and tried to stay focused on the positives in my life. My saying became, "Trust God Keep Going".

In 2017, things began looking brighter. I had been with my new love for 6 years. Landed a great job. I stabilized my finances enough to actually BUY a house. Not only was I able to buy a house, I found one in a neighborhood I've always wanted to live in. My daughters are back on track. One is in college, studying Architecture. The other straighten out her path because she got pregnant and the day after my birthday, my granddaughter arrived.

Then in 2018, things got even better. I was recruited into a new job, just 4 minutes away from my new house; (Unheard of in the Atlanta area). On February 25th, my love and I got married on February 26th I started my new job. Then On March 25th, instead of having a 1-year old birthday party for my granddaughter Maggie, we threw a wedding for my daughter and her daddy.

Then in October, I saw a photo of myself. All I could think of was "that's a picture of a fat person". That and a report from my doctor said I was borderline pre-diabetic. What a wake up call. It forced me to realize that to survive the "bad years" I had formed new habits with alcohol, TV-zone out, and careless eating (sweets & salty).

So I paid for an online app for weight loss. I paid for it because it made me commit. (I absolutely hate paying for something I don't use.) I had good success and I've lost 12 pounds. More importantly, I'm reshaping my habits!

So here we are in 2019. On Dec. 31st, I joined a gym. Yeah! But my budget doesn't allow for paying for the gym AND the app. So I moved to SparkPeople. Looking forward to continued success!
