Tune into Deep Rest

Thursday, January 10, 2019

Do what is restorative.

Today, I declared to my co-workers and boss that I am taking the rest of the week off to rest. I'm not terribly ill or anything like that. But my body is telling me I need some restorative time. The most nourishing phrase I can think of is 'deep rest.'

My dear hubs was watching CNN. Not restful. I took myself upstairs to my office. Wonderful to sit there alone in my armchair and just absorb Beauty and sit in silence.

It helps to blog here -- it is a restorative practice to listen deeply to one's inner thoughts.

On my way down from the office, I put in a load of laundry. All the guest towels et cetera from the Christmas visitors. Restorative. As in restoring order. But because I said I am taking time off for rest, that's the only load that's happening. It will take less than five minutes to transfer to dryer. I am tuning into Deep Rest. Sometimes in order to be propelled forward, you have to pull yourself all the way back into the center of the Self.

I am finding that as I tune into Deep Rest, a nurturing thought bubbles up to the surface. "Put on your beige and blue shawl." Perfect. I find it and put it on. I'd forgotten how contented it makes me feel. I actually don't need to buy a new sweater. That was the restlessness speaking. Deep Rest tells me I already have enough; all my needs are already met.

A question arises:
Can i be active from an inner sense of Deep Rest?

When I fold those towels, we shall see. I do love the sensation of warm, clean clothes straight out of the dryer. I can always trust Love to guide me.
