Something is happening

I am a compulsive eater, have been since childhood.
It's a horrible, horrible way to live.

I started sparking anew this year and am on a 22 day streak.

I am being swaddled by SP with new thoughts, new habits starting to take over, and most of all, hope for the future.

I am starting to make profound changes in my life. In just these 3 weeks, I've seen myself try to lapse into sabotaging myself, going on binges, and just giving up. I did not give in to those. I felt the spark structure move in and block those thoughts. This program is actually working for me.

One of the biggest things SP does is keep me in today. I used to live in the future ("I'll lose 50 pounds, then my life will be better"). But I was clueless as to how to achieve that. SP has given me the day by day tools to do that. I realized I don't dwell on my future wishes. I'm living each day.

I use Premium Coaching. I think the extra structure it gives is what is helping me, giving me the remedial organizational skills I lack. I was at such rock bottom when I started. I kind of rolled my eyes over the daily program page of Premium Coaching, thinking, " I already know all this stuff." I went through the motions, but opened my mind to listening and taking it in; after all, I had no place else to turn.

One member, RONDAJO56, reached out to me several times at the beginning, when the site was overwhelming and confusing, and gave me some tips on places to go in the site. I can't tell you how much those helped me.

I am profoundly grateful.

I was and am still in a very similar position as you. I've been on spark for too many years to count. This time around I found a few caring friends that I count on and who can count on me. You need that connection! Stay with it no matter how down and defeated you feel. Even if you loose 10 lbs. a year isn't that better than gaining? I will fight for myself till the end and I hope you will too.

Welcome to Spark People. As a newbie, the best thing I can tell you is the more you put into your program, the more benefits you will reap. Do the basics: track all your food and exercises on the trackers, post and huddle with your team for support, build your spark page or update it from time to time so we can get to know you better, drink your water every day, ask questions -we are all here to help. Welcome again and I hope to see more of you on the site. It is a big site. so take your time and look around. Don't overwhelm yourself by joining too many teams- just enough to get guidance and support from and that you can keep active with- a team on which you are not active is no good to you or good for the team either. Good luck on your weight loss journey and becoming a more healthy and fit you.

That is why I love this place. No matter why you are here there is something to help and someone to talk to.
