-just wondering and unable to sleep-

To-day is the "lull" before the storm--
I hear more snow is beating a path to our area--10 to 20 more cm --
I still have the basement patio to de-ice , from the last freezing rain episode--

We have sunshine right now--overnight----well, who knows!

Last night I could not sleep----I know it is because I did not get my 10 minutes in, on the Dreadmill. With all the ice chopping, (which doesn't register on my stepper)-I just could not do any more exercise on the dreaded Treadmill--
-

Lying awake last night, I was thinking that the good Lord should have given me a list of children available when I became pregnant, and I could choose which child to have---
-just saying--
I might just have chosen the ones that come out to help their parents more than some of the others--not that I don't love them all--just wondering---
Funny what you think of at night!

Himself always tells me, "They have their own family"----when I hang up a phone after begging for help to do some job that Himself is unable to do
-- like changing a shower head--
Son #3 came right out right away--in his police Uniform---- from work--did the job, quick as a wink!

So there are reasons to hug a policeman---and a daughter, and an Airline Pilot (who always uses U Tube to get me out of some household mess-

To-day I must Spark more---get onto the Dreadmill-- drink more water-- journal for the whole day---and be grateful for the children the good Lord chose ----
I suppose one day they all will see the light--
Maybe if I let my hair go grey, ya think ?

My Prince has always been the guy to drop what he's doing to lend a hand whenever called. My sons have witnessed that all their lives and are all very good at helping when we need it. Fortunately, we don't have to call very often--yet--but that day will come.

Around here my neighbor and I (we both have 5 acres to care for) we say, we will get done what gets done and that's that! I have a 12 year old boy living next door, who is always asking to work in my pastures. The only problem is he only wants to do it when I'm there watching him. Most of the time it is just easier for me to do what needs done (or doing what I can do) and when he decides to come over he can help! LOL He's a great kid with high ambitions, he's just not real motivated. LOL So we two neighbors only do what gets done!

    Have a wonderful week!

The sad thing is that we get from our children what we gave to our parents. I did well for my dad but mom was not easy to deal with so now I am the mom and some of my children are generous to a fault while others are absent. It is not an easy thing to wrap your mind around. Your way of life as wonderful as it is is not easy to walk away from. Impossible really. The dogs and cat alone need you for their lives. The day I came this close to dying(picture me emoticon measuring the tip of my finger) my daughter had to take the dogs. Charlie(DH) had to stay with another son and now our house sits empty. It was a rude awakening. I still find it impossible to plan and prepare for the dreaded 'what if'!

I wish my mom was still here to be able to help her when she needed some help with something. I’m so happy some of your kids are willing and able to step up to the plate.

I've been told for years my kids would "get it" at some point. I don't know if that is true. I know internally one of them gets it but the behavior doesn't change. They are still young. I hope I'm still around when they "get it" as I've been told. I don't mean to sound melancholy. It took me a very long time to grow up. I don't know if I'm officially there yet at 49. I have been referred to as a "late bloomer" most of my life. I used to resent that but over here, I see the absolute truth in it. It's part of my path and I embrace it. So, I will embrace my kids for their path and let it be...

One day in the future when those certain children become your age and Himself's age, perhaps only then will they understand what it means to not get help from one's children. I love the last picture of the couple where it may be too late. Time passes quickly for sure! As far as missing the Dreadmill, you are very physically active with all the snow and ice, I'm sure you'll be ok. missing one day! Stay warm!!:-)

I get those crazy notions when I am awake in the middle of the night. I like that parent post. I wonder if our children even think of the fact that we may need their help or want to see the grands. Nope. Move on. This too shall pass even if it's too late. We been having rain all day and threats of flooding. Heard that the snow is coming back as well. I just shoveled snow on Sunday which by today was nearly gone from the rain. I am still feeling the pain in my leg and hip. Neither is in great shape but I am the only one that can do it. I do like been out there by myself when the wind is not blowing. I take my time and shovel our drive and sidewalk. Take care and be careful. emoticon emoticon

Funny what thoughts fill our minds when trying to fall asleep. I sometimes have distressing thoughts when I am half-asleep.

I too have had some insomnia recently. Worrying about the weather and my long commute has not helped. The trouble about the kids is when we were growing up most people stayed close to the relatives. Now we live in a world where everyone moves around. We do what we can and hire when we can't or barter

Loved that last sign. Since all my children live in different states I don't expect them to run over a lot, but sometimes???? It was so cold here that a pipe bursted and now my neat house looks like who unit and ran. It will be weeks before its all put together again.

Glad your son the policeman was able to help. True, they have their own lives now, but someday they will wish they had visited and helped more. Hope tomorrow is a better day. Maybe the snow will miss you this time. Be careful shoveling snow and picking away the ice. Have a blessed day. emoticon

I'v also been doing a lot of shoveling of snow - much more than we usually have. We have a break today, but forecasted to start up again in the wee hours of the morning, after some rain. That will make a real mess of things!

Love how you express thoughts most of us have had a time or two, but don't admit to! We also struggle with any of ours helping out, and there seems to be one more likely than others here too. I have found though, that one who is unlikely to offer, will come pretty quick if I directly and specifically ask, which, of course, I do not like to do. Sigh, maybe it's best just to ask! I also get a reminder now and again, that I can afford to pay someone to come in and do chores, thus eliminating the need to do it, or ask the kids for help, and, yeah, I probably could, hehheh.

Yes, I do love my boys (who live with me) but might consider different ones if I had been given a catalog. LOL Ice storm here overnight woke to no electricity. I fired up candles andthe stove top with hot water boiling to keep a little warmth. Thank the Lord, our electric company was on it predicting it would be back at noon, was back at 9 a.m. Add those guys to the hug list!

Consider where you would like to move to next, where there is less upkeep, and no Dreadmill, so you can think of other things........the stress of this will never change otherwise. We all will not be Spring chickens forever.

I'm the oldest of 5 kids. My mom lived with me and my husband for the last 15 years of her life. There are 3 out of 5 kids that always had time for our parents needs. The other 2 not so much. I'm thinking it's like that in most families. I hope you have a better day today and get a better nights sleep tonight.

When Bill was here (passed May 17,2017) he fixed everything Needed to be done. Now my kids will help but sometimes I need to wait for them, since they are busy. Oh well. they do what they can to help me or else I need to hire someone for bigger things.
I am grateful for my kids though and blessed in many ways. I think the best thing is the TIME they will spend with me , is really a gift that I love......
