Bless those who brave the cold...

Tuesday, February 26, 2019

Sunday afternoon our power went out. No biggie we figured it would be off for a few minutes and then return. After about an hour I suggested my hubby should call the electric company just to be sure they knew we didn't have power.

I was shocked that our neighbor had power and so did the people across the street. I must admit I was feeling a bit 'picked on' by that point. As it got darker and colder I began to get a bit nervous about being without power. I also was so grateful that normally this isn't an issue for us. How blessed we are to be able to flick on a light whenever we want to.

I lit candles, got our flashlights ready to be of service and just sat on the bed. The temperature in the house began to fall. We live in Wisconsin and winters can be bruttle especially this winter. We were in the middle of a blizzard and by morning the temperature outside was at minus 8 F. Inside the house we were at 51 F. Hubby and I snuggled under the blankets and prayed that it wouldn't be much longer.

We did call the electric company at about 2:30 a.m. and while they suggested going to a hotel we had another problem. The blizzard layed down about another 12" of snow on top of what we already had and our driveway was piled high and needed to be shoveled in order to get out.

Finally about 8:30 a.m. the power came back...those who worked diligently in the cold had saved us! I am grateful!

Thanks all for your comments. We survived it, but I will say at one point while we were snuggled in bed I said to my husband "this is how they will find us" Now I knew we wete warm enough to survive it but you hear stories. lol

He has tweaked the skis but the other problem is the snow is so deep that her poor front paws can't get down deep enough to be able to walk on them. She hasn't been out in a while now and I really hate for her.to be cooped up in the house so much. She has been having some tummy issues too, so staying in is best at this point. Thank you so much for asking!!

Brrrr, I felt cold just reading about you not having any power overnight. It gets pretty cold here where I live so we have a secondary source of heat in case our power goes out.

Did your husband tweak the skis for Peaches after?

Sorry you had to be without power. We had very strong winds Sunday. But thanked God our power stayed on.
