Bless those who brave the cold...

Sunday afternoon our power went out. No biggie we figured it would be off for a few minutes and then return. After about an hour I suggested my hubby should call the electric company just to be sure they knew we didn't have power.
I was shocked that our neighbor had power and so did the people across the street. I must admit I was feeling a bit 'picked on' by that point. As it got darker and colder I began to get a bit nervous about being without power. I also was so grateful that normally this isn't an issue for us. How blessed we are to be able to flick on a light whenever we want to.
I lit candles, got our flashlights ready to be of service and just sat on the bed. The temperature in the house began to fall. We live in Wisconsin and winters can be bruttle especially this winter. We were in the middle of a blizzard and by morning the temperature outside was at minus 8 F. Inside the house we were at 51 F. Hubby and I snuggled under the blankets and prayed that it wouldn't be much longer.
We did call the electric company at about 2:30 a.m. and while they suggested going to a hotel we had another problem. The blizzard layed down about another 12" of snow on top of what we already had and our driveway was piled high and needed to be shoveled in order to get out.
Finally about 8:30 a.m. the power came back...those who worked diligently in the cold had saved us! I am grateful!
