8 Week Diabetic Weight Loss Challenge-GOALS

Monday, March 04, 2019

I am just gonna put this out there.

I have a prediabetic diagnosis and need to take it seriously. My paternal grandmother died at age 59! because she was diabetic and would not follow her doctor's instructions. Between being on the road with my husband for most of the last 6 years, and spinal stenosis/sciatica which knocked me out of commission for several months in 2019, I have gained 20 pounds!

My SMART** Goal is to lose 20 pounds by my 70th birthday, July 24, 2019 by following the SparkPeople Diabetic Nutrition and Fitness Plans, unless Doc Thompson has me do something different. As a Christian and a former Weight Watcher leader I understand that some things are not in my control but most things are.

I will do my best to remember :

13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry." (So, I will not Spark during my Bible/prayer time!)

What I seek is totally within God's will, since, as a born again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, my body is His temple, and "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me!" emoticon

My thanks if you have read this far! emoticon

Well goodness you seem right on track, congratulations! I too have a prediabetic diagnosis and am turning 70 on April 4, 2019. It’s hard turning a lifestyle around to be healthy but it can be done. Being on the road must be very difficult ( to eat right) but for you staying home had it’s challenges too. Take care and keep your goals in site.

Have you heard of the Christian wt loss site TBYT ( take back your temple) I have belonged for several years.very motivational and Christ centered. emoticon

I'm happy because you are learning from the choices of others. Not everyone chooses to do that but it can help avoid heartache. I have seen multiple people fight such a diagnosis and their body, stressed and strained by the lack of program, always suffered. I'm happy you're being good to you. It's something many have to learn the hard way.

You’re doing great being proactive with your health. I did the same challenge when I first started. Yes at times it was hard but it was and is well worth it! You can do this! emoticon emoticon

I also rejoined SP because of health problems that my doctor says are caused by my weight. I'm looking to conquer GERD and now Plantar Fasciitis on my left foot. I think your goal is doable if you are strict with yourself.

My nephew died because he was diabetic and would not lose weight (he weight over 300 lbs), so he developed pancreatic cancer. The doctor said he died from drinking too many Diet Cokes (aspartame). He was completely addicted, drinking at least a 2-liter a day, so please stay away from diet sodas!

I'm adding you as a friend so we can keep up with each other's progress.
