Yesterday, I had a big time Woohoo moment and a huge non-scale victory! It was my "baby brother's" prom night (he's far from being a baby now at nearly 19, but there is an age gap of 14 years between us). After the formal dance, I asked my husband if he wanted to go on the dance floor, but he was feeling tired - he gets up at 4.30 am for work - my brother overheard our conversation and said, "You can dance with me!" So off we went, and contrary to my expectations, not even 6 months after my double back surgery I was able to dance and it wasn't the slowest dance either! My husband later asked me for another dance. I'm feeling great today, my back is feeling normal and not in pain and in my mind I'm still dancing a happy dance! Marko - my husband and I left the prom early but I did manage to thank my brother for the awesome experience, and I am so proud of him. I cried happy tears yesterday night and my eyes are watery again as I write. Woohoo I'm back! I can exercise. I encourage everyone to work out for those who can't. It really is the best feeling when you can exercise again after a long time of not being able to.
I'm not here often enough because I'm tracking my food on another app (the SparkPeople app doesn't work here in the EU) - so I would like to say thanks to those who still write notes on my page or e-mail me. I wanted to share my joy after all the depressing blogs in the past. Life is beautiful! Yes, there are many challenges along the way, but we have to look for joy in the everyday and never lose hope.
