Am I Driven?
Saturday, March 23, 2019
I guess you could say I'm driven, at least my wife says I am. Now in semi-retirement I love to work in my woodworking shop. When I get a project going I can't stand to leave it I have to get it finished. Sometimes, though, I have to talk myself into giving up a day or two and do some things she wants to do. This morning I prepared breakfast for the two of us - Saturday is my breakfast day - From scratch: hash brown potatoes, fried eggs, bacon, grilled French bread, coffee. Then, I went to the shop for one hour and finished up a process on a project I'm working on. We went to the movies in the afternoon. This evening we cooked dinner together. That'l get me off the hook for today I think. In April we are going to spend ten days in Great Brittan. That should count for significant points in my favor.
Of course, this is in jest. I love my wife and love spending time with her. I also love working in my woodworking shop. It's finding that balance of time spent with her and also doing some things I love to do that she isn't involved in. It can be done and it can be done with joy.
