Thought and Prayer for Monday, April 15, 2019

Monday, April 15, 2019

We learned at an early age about little baby Jesus who was born in a manger. We learned Christmas is all about the birth of baby Jesus. We learned about Mary and Joseph as well as the wise men. But do we truly believe? Do we truly believe a virgin was able to conceive a baby? Do we believe God sent His Son to this earth to be born in human form? God created Jesus as a baby to grow and live on this earth as we do. We are called to believe and to share this wonderful gift from God with others.

Matthew 1:18 “This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit.” (NLT)

1. Write what you know about Jesus’ birth.
2. List the reasons you believe Jesus was born.
3. Know Jesus was born like no other human on earth.
4. Remember He was sent from God to show us how to live.

Dear Lord, thank You for the birth of Jesus. You had a purpose for Him to be born as a baby in a manger long ago. We do believe in You and in the birth of Your Son. We know Jesus is real and the events of Jesus’ life happened on this earth just as You had prophesied through Isaiah years ago. Help us remember to share the reason for the birth of Jesus with others. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God sent His only Son into this world to be born as a baby so we would know God is with us.

Isaiah 7:14b “Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).” (NLT)

Because of the prophets long ago, the wise men knew Jesus was coming and they believed enough to go to Him and worship.

Matthew 2:1-2 “Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, ‘Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.’” (NLT)

We should never doubt the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ. He was born as a baby and sent from God to live on this earth in human form.

Luke 1:31 “You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus.” (NLT)
