April 18, 2019 THE GREAT TEACHER

Throughout life we are taught many things. In the beginning, we learn how to walk and read. Later, we learn more complex things. As adults, we tend to choose what we want to learn and what we want to believe. Some things we learn about seem too good to be true and some things we hear all we can do is shake our heads and wonder who would believe something that crazy. However, there is one thing we can surely believe: the lessons from Jesus Christ. God’s teaching is truly good and definitely true. We are to believe in His word, desire to learn more and then teach it to others just as Jesus did. When we seek to learn and to teach God’s word, we will be following in the footsteps of Jesus.

Matthew 7:28-29 “When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, for he taught with real authority—quite unlike their teachers of religious law.” (NLT)

1. Write what you have learned in your life from God.
2. List the ways you can share that with others.
3. Get deeper into to God’s word so you can teach it.
4. Seek opportunities to teach God’s word using stories about your life.

Dear Lord, thank You for the teachings from Jesus in Your word. He spoke and taught like no others. He uses parables to share about Your word and to give direction to those seeking help. Show us how we can use stories about our lives to teach others about You. You have done so much for us and we know we need to share our testimony as well as share Your word. Help us to passionately and purposefully teach others about You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

We are to purposefully seek out people to share God’s word with…every day.

Mark 6:6 “Then Jesus went from village to village, teaching the people.” (NLT)

We are to share our stories about how God has impacted our lives and use these stories as teaching opportunities about Jesus.

Mark 4:34a “In fact, in his (Jesus’) public ministry he never taught without using parables” (NLT)

Jesus took every opportunity as a teaching opportunity to share God’s love and His word.

Matthew 5:1-2 “One day as he saw the crowds gathering, Jesus went up on the mountainside and sat down. His disciples gathered around him, and he began to teach them.” (NLT)
