In the small town that I work, all of the churches have a community Good Friday service. Last year, any one that want to could meet in the middle of town and participate in a Cross Walk. All that wished, could take turns carrying a wooden cross to a church 1/2 a mile away. The church was then the spot for the community services. There was such a great turn-out that they did it again this year. I have been lucky enough to be able to attend both Cross Walks although I can't stay for the service since my church has its own Good Friday Service. It was a very humbling experience and one that I can't wait to repeat next year!
