Short and Sweat ;)

Tuesday, May 14, 2019

It was a freudian slip, but I'll go with it. Short and Sweet and Short and Sweat!

Quick recap... move last Summer, just when I was getting my momentum rolling nicely, set me back big time. Physically, emotionally, spiritually, you name it. Went into major hibernation mode of inner reflection and a bit of avoidance... lol.

I've also realized that Keto is not for me. Just not able to maintain a state of ketosis in a healthy manner. Not having a gall bladder doesn't help neither. And... I've had to and still am retraining my brain from high fat to healthy fat leaning to lower fat... just not fad low fat label type stuff. Get that? lol Anyways... so although I eating moderately and healthy, eating high fat with carbs helped me put on more weight. Go figure... le sigh. lol.

Plus I recently turned 40 and blah blah blah. Body's changing. I'm very emotional. Tears seem to flow for every emotional thought that surfaces.......

But... on the plus side... I've been able to clear a lot of those thoughts and put them to rest.

And feeling good within my Marriage, too... :)

Today is our 14th Wedding Anniversary! emoticon

A special one to us because we were married on the 14th day of this month... :)

Alright... Short and Sweet!!! LOL

Fitness wise... been going for the odd walk, but never without my hubby. Just don't feel safe. Speaking of, my house was broken into while I was taking a nap a while back, and they took both my devices, so back to the old desktop! SP's better on desktop anyways... lol.

Alright... fitness.

Going for the odd bike ride, too, hope to do much more!

And! Started a new way for me to approach my treadmill.

20 minutes total and it's a kick butt totally doable workout.

· 5 minute warm up at low speed.

· 10 minutes of 30 second intervals alternating between a high jog/run speed and slow recovery walk speed.

· 5 minutes cool down with low speed.

I finish looking like a cherry about to explode and sweat pouring from my body.

But it's doable! The 30 second recovery allows me to give it my all for the next 30 sec high speed!

BOOM!

I know... not amazing new knowledge... lol.

But, allowing myself to commit to that 5 minute warm up is the key and is hard for me. I want to get going right away... lol. But, I found beneficial... logically... lol. But I need to prove these things to myself sometimes. But when I was ready to giver at 5 minutes, I felt more ready!

The intervals are great... I use to try to do 20 minutes before with 10-15 minutes of a decent jog speed, but had a hard time keeping up my endurance and stamina, which slowed down overall progress and motivation. I also wasn't pushing myself too much cardiovascular wise, so the same 20 minutes just wasn't cutting it. Barely broke a sweat... weird hey? Maybe not... lol.

Anyways... excited about my new approach to my treadmill... only back on twice and already feeling and seeing a difference in my body.

Oh! And I have a new heartfelt focus. I want to be healthy. Yes we all know this. And my goal has always been to achieve a new healthy lifestyle. But something clicked at a new level. I want to incorporate 20 minutes treadmill or other movement outside of my home as often as I can, not to lose weight, but so that I can feel better, stronger, and live this darn life given to me.

Done living in the past!

The weight that falls off with me living my life again will just be the added benefit to my overall health journey.

And that's it for now!!! Even if not overly short and sweat!

Amen!

    Kendra,
So happy to see you here again. And good for you finding something that works just for you. That is what I am doing, too. I joined something called Phit-N-Phat. It is kind of expensive, but I love the comradery and they offer life coaching so it works for me. If you have never heard of it, the owner has a podcast - How I lost 100 pounds. She has a potty mouth, but her message is awesome.

I am doing really good. I just made a commitment that I am going for it and will never gain these pounds that I lose now back again. My plan is just eat when hungry and stop when mildly satisfied, drink lots of water, get enough sleep and journal about feelings.

So happy that you and Scott have worked things out. I feel like I have an investment in your marriage, you know. So I am routing for both of you! Hope your new home is safe, girlfriend. Be careful out there.

    hugs, Joann
p.s. I had a very thin piece of cake and it was so dang sweet. I am really not used to that sugar anymore. And it was fun knowing that I could eat it and not go crazy with cravings afterwards..
