May 25, 2019 HEALTHY MINDS

Since a healthy lifestyle begins in our minds, we should work on our mindset for a healthier life. Worrying is possibly the greatest thing that consumes our thinking. However, 85% of what we worry about never even happens! Worrying about things can cause many health issues. Studies show that 40 million adults suffer from some type of anxiety disorder. We don’t know what is causing so many people to have anxiety but we can control what we think. Focusing on God and allowing His word to consume our thoughts will help us practice healthy thinking. God cares for us and wants us to be anxiety-free.

SCRIPTURE:
Ecclesiastes 11:10a “So refuse to worry, and keep your body healthy.” (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. Write what you think about the most.
2. List the things that worry you.
3. Know God doesn’t want you to be worried.
4. Remember to trust in Him and allow Him to change your thinking.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we pray You will help us with our thoughts today. We know we don’t always think the best things. Many times we take a perfectly good day and spend it worrying about tomorrow. Many times we roll possibilities over and over in our minds. However, the things we worry about the most never even happen. Help us to put our trust in You and allow You to help us fill our minds with Your word which is perfect and good and just what we need. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER:
God doesn’t want us to worry. He tells us to give all our worries and cares to Him.

1 Peter 5:7 “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” (NLT)

God wants us to trust in Him so we will not have anxious thoughts.

Psalm 56:3 “But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.” (NLT)

God wants to help us know what is causing our anxious thoughts but we have to be willing to listen to Him and be ready to change.

FOCUS:
Psalm 139:23 “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.” (NLT)
