May 28, 2019 WARRIORS NOT WORRIERS
There are so many things we fight for in this world. We just recently celebrated a day of remembrance for those who fought for our country. We may fight for our rights as citizens of this country. We may fight for rights to do what we want to do. We may fight for what we believe in. Whatever we choose to fight for we need to remember that worrying won’t help the fight at all. What helps us to fight is being a warrior. We are to be warriors of God fighting against sin and evil in this world. We are to fight for what God tells us is right in His word. We are to be warriors for God and not worries of this world. To be warriors for God we have to remember to rely on His Holy Spirit to help us fight with spiritual warfare.
Zechariah 4:6b “I am the Lord All-Powerful. So don’t depend on your own power or strength, but on my Spirit.” (CEV)
1. Write what worries you are battling.
2. List the things you need to fight for.
3. Ask God to help you fight against wrongdoing.
4. Stop worrying and put on the armor of God to help you fight.
Dear Lord, there are so many things in this world we could be worried about. There are wars. There is famine. There is greed, lust, hate, etc. So many things. Help us to not worry but to stand up and fight. You have given us all we need to be a warrior for what is right and good. Help us today to put on the armor of God so we can fight against the enemy rather than worrying about how bad things are. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
God has great wisdom in His word for us to immerse ourselves in so we can prepare for His return.
Isaiah 59:17 “He put on righteousness as his body armor and placed the helmet of salvation on his head. He clothed himself with a robe of vengeance and wrapped himself in a cloak of divine passion.” (NLT)
God wants us to put on His armor so we can fight the enemies in the unseen world.
Ephesians 6:12-13 “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.” (NLT)
God wants us to be protected using His word to help us steer away from temptations in this world.
1 Thessalonians 5:8 “But let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation.” (NLT)
