June 2, 2019 A NEW HEART

There are many people who have received a new heart because their heart just wore out. A heart transplant gives a person an opportunity for a longer life. However, this life on earth is still short and we never know when it will end. A new physical heart doesn’t guarantee we will have 20 more years on this earth. We need a new heart that will last for eternity and that only comes from God. God has the ability to take our stubborn, rebellious hearts and make them new. We can have a responsive heart which seeks God’s will and obeys Him. Then we will have an eternal life which will outlast this temporary life on earth.

SCRIPTURE:
Ezekiel 11:19-20 “And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them. I will take away their stony, stubborn heart and give them a tender, responsive heart, so they will obey my decrees and regulations. Then they will truly be my people, and I will be their God.” (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. Write what may be wrong with your spiritual heart.
2. List the ways you show God you love Him and others.
3. Pray for a responsive and obedient heart.
4. Ask God to cleanse your heart and make it new.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we know our hearts are not always clean. We can’t cleanse them the way You can, Lord. Help us to be more responsive to You and others by sharing love as You love us. Help us to seek Your will and live in obedience to You. We know You accept all who repent from their sins and follow You. Reveal to us anything in our hearts that is not right and create in us a new heart today, Lord, we pray. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER:
God will cleanse the heart of ANYONE who turns from their sins and accepts Him as Lord and Savior.

Acts 15:8-9 “God knows people’s hearts, and he confirmed that he accepts Gentiles by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as he did to us. He made no distinction between us and them, for he cleansed their hearts through faith.” (NLT)

God gives us a new heart and spirit when we choose to obey and follow Him.

Ezekiel 36:26 “And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.” (NLT)

God wants to renew us daily and cleanse our hearts daily so we can better serve and worship Him.

FOCUS:
Let this be your daily prayer: Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.” (NLT)
