Gym Day 3 - Miracle Morning Day 5

Wednesday, June 05, 2019

Still doing the whole Miracle Morning thing and part of that is the daily gym thing. I am super surprised at how much I look forward to mornings at the gym considering I've not previously been a fan of either mornings OR the gym. Today the daughter had to work and I had to decide that I was still an important enough priority to myself to go to the gym anyway. It would have been really easy to choose to go in early to work, get a few more hours in and make that money rather than choosing to invest time that I could be making money into making a better me instead. I am worth it. I am a better, more focused and healthier human being when I make me a priority in my own life. I've not been good at that before now. I've been really good at keeping my commitments to others (often at the expense of my own needs) but one of the things I've learned this past 373 days is that my commitments to ME are the most important ones to keep. I'm learning to unashamedly put my oxygen mask on FIRST. I can't help anyone else if I don't take care of me.

Today was a mile on the treadmill while watching Golden Girls and then the upper body/abdominal machines circuit for strength training. My upper body has always been under developed so I am having to start at the lowest weight for one set of 10 on the arm machines. Abs are a bit stronger so I can keep the 25lb range for those and do more reps. So now that I've done all the machines once I have a baseline to begin from and measure progress from here. Tomorrow I am planning a total cardio day and then Friday I'm going to just do weights I think. Still working on what works best. Daughter and friends are going camping this weekend so I'll be on my own again on Friday. I THINK I'm going to take weekends off from the structured stuff and use those days for family fun activities like park walks and skating and such. Again, we'll see. Either way this week thus far is a huge success.
