Today I am 70 Years Old.

Amazing. I remember when we weren't supposed to trust anyone over 30, and 30 sounded so OLD! Now here I am.
Yesterday my boys threw me a big party here at the house. My husband is aging and doesn't do well around crowds, so being here at home was best. My brother and sister were here, all 4 boys, and 5 of the 6 grandkids. We had a wonderful time, everyone is so different but we all love each other. I am grateful beyond words for a family without rifts. Mom was here, but she is beyond understanding what was going on. She doesn't understand birthdays anymore. I used to send her flowers on my birthday; she remembers that day, I don't. I know that my life miraculously changed with the birth of each of my children, as I'm sure it did for her, but dementia has robbed her of those memories. But she was here with all 3 of her children, I had all 4 of mine. My boys went outdoors to throw a football just like they did when they were little, it's astonishing to see them gray and balding and having fun playing just like they did 40 years ago.
It was a wonderful way to celebrate a milestone.
