Be thankful for “normal kids”

Wednesday, July 17, 2019

No matter what I decide I am screwed. If I go the group home option we pay out of pocket the difference the state pays vs living cost which can vary 800.00 and higher per month. She is too high functioning for DHS home health care so I was given a list of client living services agencies for me to follow up on. if I want to have assistance with daily task and hire and pay out of pocket and find someone to do it. Where she currently lives is based solely on her income and 1 Mile, 5 minutes from our house and she keeps the job she’s had for 15 years. I can keep paying a therapist out of pocket 1.00 a minute which gets no long term results. I am to hold off as long as I can to apply for social security because once I do her SSI and Medicaid is terminated. According to her cmh case manager self inflicted injuries are common and nothing to be concerned about so I am not to react, draw attention or even act like I notice them, and removed everything in her apartment she can get hurt from. Her fist!!???!!!

Nothing to be concerned about???? You are not to react???? Was she joking? Wow, no matter what you decide to do, it's a very hard road. Wish I could offer some wisdom, but I have none.
