What A Weekend.............

Every July, my husband, his older brother, his niece, her friend, and a couple that our niece went to college with go to a lake in North Eastern Wisconsin for a week of fishing. They rent two cabins. They were supposed to leave early Saturday morning for the lake. Friday night, the owner of the cabins called our niece to tell her that a tornado had completely destroyed one of the cabins and badly damaged the roof of the other, and...……...they didn't have any power. She called everyone to let them know that the trip was probably a wash, but that she would try to find another rental unit and get back to them. This was no small feat as most of the rentals are reserved at least a year in advance with very few cancellations. Saturday morning came with no word re: another cabin...……...still nothing Saturday afternoon. Then our niece called to say that they were in her basement as tornados were swirling through Green Bay. Then she called again to say that a tree had fallen on her Dad's (my DH's brother) house. Luckily, no one was hurt, but what a mess. Later in the afternoon, she called again to say that she had found a cabin. It is brand new, sits in a woods 15 minutes from the Lake, has 4 bedrooms, a loft and a den for sleeping, plus 3 bathrooms, a laundry, dishwasher, completely furnished kitchen, a firepit and grill outside a balcony all around the cabin, and plenty of parking. It is really POSH compared to the basic cabins they are used to. The downside is that they have to pull their boats at the end of each day and take them back to the cabin and there isn't anywhere to clean the fish at the cabin, so they will have to clean them near the lake, keep them on ice, and take them back to the cabin for packaging and freezing. The Lake was hit so hard by the tornado, that hundreds of trees are down and some roads are still impassable. They all left for the cabin this morning and I am anxious to hear just how nice it is. My husband said that I should come along, but...………..this is my "ME" week. I can sleep as late as I want to, I go to bed as late as I want to, I will go shopping with friends, have a lunch date with a girl I used to teach with, I am going to sew a book bag for Nola, etc...……….I will do what I want to do with no deadlines and in my own way. I
this week and guard it carefully...…………..so, Thank You dear DH, but No Thank You.
