Had lunch with retirees from my husbands Job

Tuesday, August 06, 2019

Each one shared what they have been doing since they retired. Almost each one of them has taken an extended vacation somewhere. Each share grandchildren stories, successful kid stories, upgrades on their houses etc. pictures on cellphones being posted of the whole family together. The More I sat there the more I knew we didn’t belong and were only outsiders looking in. My husband has been retired 2 years and you faithful friends know what our 2 years has been like. Do I want to share that with total strangers? Do I want them to know my daughter is mentally impaired and we never will be grandparents? Am I ready to let others into our life and do they really want to be? Thankfully it never got to us! We were able to keep the conversations all about them. With 11 people we made it through testing the waters to find a place where we belong and this isn’t it! He worked with them years ago and that was then.

If you feel uncomfortable in any situation in public, like that, then you don’t Have to share anything personal. It’s no body business anyway. But you guys are heroes. To have gone through what you did and come out on top victorious and whole❤️ emoticon emoticon

It'll be fun to share your adventures while you get your lives back. When in that situation, just keep it general, something like, we have had some family challenges to deal with that has taken most of our time. But now we are catching up on the fun times. Have a wonderful day. (Talking specifics will only get you riled up each time the topic arises.)

I can understand. We have no children and I don't ever have anything to say. I just listen and know that no one ever tells the bad stuff. Just the best!
